Democracy For Aberdeenshire is a civic platform created to support transparent, accountable decision-making in local government within defined council areas. It focuses on how major infrastructure and development decisions are taken, particularly where delegated powers are used instead of full council debate. The aim is to ensure that decisions with significant and lasting impacts on local communities are made openly, scrutinised properly, and taken by elected councillors in public session.

The platform is designed for residents living within the Aberdeenshire Council area, the Highland Council area, and the Moray Council area. It allows people in those locations to raise concerns or express support directly with their own ward councillors on matters of governance, democratic process, and public accountability. By enabling residents to communicate clearly and constructively about decisions that affect their specific council area and ward, Democracy For Aberdeenshire aims to reinforce the principle that major local decisions should be debated by the full council, with elected members taking clear and visible responsibility for outcomes that affect the communities they represent.

ObjectNow provides a digital tool that helps you generate, edit, and submit a letter to local councillors or other public representatives. Any draft content generated by the tool is general information only and does not constitute legal advice.

You are responsible for reviewing and approving the final letter before sending. ObjectNow does not review user edits and is not responsible for the final content you choose to submit.

To identify the correct council area and ward for delivery, the service uses the postcode you provide to perform a postcode lookup. This lookup is used solely to determine the relevant council area and ward and to identify the appropriate recipients.

When you submit a letter, the service sends a single email containing your letter to the relevant recipients. Your email address is used as the reply to address so that recipients may respond directly to you if they choose. You will also receive one copy of your submitted letter by email for your own records.

To provide this service, ObjectNow processes the personal data you enter, including your name, address, postcode, and email address. This information is used only for the purpose of generating and delivering your letter and for basic operational record keeping. ObjectNow does not sell your personal data.

For operational reporting, ObjectNow records limited submission information, including the council area and ward associated with each submission. This information is used to maintain aggregate counts of letters submitted for each area. These counts do not identify individual users.

Your letter is sent to third party recipients outside ObjectNow, such as councillors or other public bodies. Those recipients may handle your correspondence in accordance with their own policies and legal obligations. Some authorities publish correspondence, or parts of it, on public portals. ObjectNow cannot control how recipients process, publish, or retain your correspondence.

Where automated rewriting is used to vary the wording of a template letter, it is used only to rephrase content while preserving meaning and does not introduce new facts. You may edit the letter before sending, and the version you submit is the version that is delivered.

Newsletter sign up is optional. If you choose to subscribe, the details you provide for the newsletter, such as your title, name, and email address, will be stored so that Democracy for Aberdeenshire and any stated partners can send you updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in newsletter emails. Choosing not to subscribe does not affect your ability to use this service.

This service is intended for users aged sixteen or over. If you are under sixteen, you must have permission from a parent or guardian to use the service.
